(NOTTAWASAGA, ON)- Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy over the weekend with 135 calls for service.
On November 30, 2013 at 1:17am, an OPP Officer observed a motor vehicle heading east along Albert Street in the Town of New Tecumseth and the vehicle driver had a difficult time keeping the vehicle straight, the Officer stopped the vehicle immediately suspecting an impaired driver. Throughout the investigation, the driver was not found to be impaired but was a suspended driver. Charged is 41 year old Ryan Eric Lee of the Town of New Tecumseth, with Driving while under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in Provincial Offences court on the January 8, 2014 to deal with this matter.
Nottawasaga OPP continued with RIDE programs over the weekend. During one of the 14 RIDE programs conducted this weekend, Officers stopped a male driving on Webster Road, he was found to have consumed alcohol and was issued a 3 day suspension of his licence.
On November 30, 2013 at 1:22 am, during a routine check of an arena and its parking lot, Nottawasaga OPP Officers spoke to a male sitting in a vehicle in the Baxter arena, Police located drugs in the vehicle. Charged is an 18 year old male from Essa Township, he is charged with one count of Possession under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
On December 1, 2013 at 7:58, Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 89 at County Road 13, a vehicle had driven through a stop sign there and ended up in the mud on the south side of Highway 89, the driver was investigated by OPP and found to have consumed alcohol. Charged is 37 year old Brian McDONALD of Adjala-Tosorontio, he is charged with Driving while ability impaired by alcohol and over 80 mgs, he will appear in court on December 19, 2013.
