(NOTTAWASAGA, ON)- Today February 27, 2014 the Nottawasaga OPP area is experiencing high winds which are causing drifting from snowbanks and reducing driver visibility considerably.
Currently members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have Highway 89 closed between County Road 56 and the 10th of Essa Township and County Road 27 from Barrie to Thornton. Drivers need to avoid these roadways and if they do not need to drive through this area to find alternate routes.
Police are investigating many multi-vehicle collisions and are working with County Roads Departments to progressively make their way to all the collisions.
Please stay in your vehicles, stay warm and wait for Police and County Roads to approach you.
