After investigation he was charged with Careless Driving on the snow packed roadway. Northumberland OPP would like to remind motorists that not adjusting your driving to road and weather conditions puts you and others at risk. Slow down and give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination if weather and road conditions are less than ideal.

Two accidental 911 calls were received from young children playing with their parents’ cell phones causing officers to attend the homes to verify the non-emergency. Police would caution parents against using cell phones as toys for their children as calls such as this tie up police resources which could impact the safety of others in the community who are in real need of assistance.

A Port Hope couple reported being defrauded of $45,000 on their Costco credit card. The culprit(s) gained access to the account and changed the address and phone number causing the seniors to stop receiving statements or phone calls from the creditor. Police would like to remind the public to be aware of missing or stopped bills as it may indicate a situation such as this. If that happens to you, call the creditor and make inquiries into your account status. Report any unauthorized transactions to the creditor and police. Investigation ongoing.
Police are investigating two assault complaints and one theft complaint at the Warkworth Institution. All three investigations are ongoing.
