(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers dealt with a variety of calls over the weekend, here are some examples:
Mar 20: (from noon)
– 7 yr old child having a temper tantrum dialed 911 from a Hamilton Twp home
– A 28 yr old Colborne woman was charged with driving while her licence was under suspension on County Rd 45 Baltimore area (3:10pm)
– Officers checked on the wellbeing of a 41 yr old Hamilton Twp woman who was possibly suicidal. Officers found her to be in good health and referred her to counselling services.
– Neighbours reported seeing a U-Haul truck in the driveway of a home that had recently burnt down. Officers and the homeowner attended and found no evidence of a break in, the truck was not located.
– Landowner reported finding 2 dead calves on his property apparently dumped by a trespasser on Milgate Rd Alnwick-Haldimand Twp (5pm)
– Police were called to a Percy Twp home for an unwanted intoxicated guest. The 51 yr old homeless male was removed and turned over to Peterborough Police Service who held a warrant for his arrest (8:15pm)
– Family dispute in Campbellford between children and their father who lives elsewhere. Officers spoke to everyone involved, normal frustrations not requiring any further police involvement.
– An intoxicated man (34) from Alnwick-Haldimand was transported to an area hospital after sustaining injuries at his home (11pm). Officers attempted to speak to the male in the Emergency room and were met with obscenities and aggression to the point that he had to be put in an isolation room due to his disruptive behaviour. He remained uncooperative with police who were unable to determine whether the non-life threatening injuries were as a result of an accident or an assault. Investigation ongoing.
Mar 21:
– Police were called to a Campbellford bar for a dispute between two patrons. Officers attended and advised one patron to leave for the night. (12:40am)
– Loud music complaint at a Seymour Twp home (2:30am). Officers spoke to the tenants who turned their music down.
– Complaint of tenants smoking cigarettes in a Brighton motel against their rules. Owner advised by officers to evict tenant, not a police matter.
– Dispute over property involving an ex-tenant at an Alnwick-Haldimand Twp home. Both persons were advised that it was a civil matter.
– Report of a Break&Enter to a Cramahe Twp home on County Rd 2. Occurred sometime between March 17th & 18th. Several 60oz bottles of whiskey were taken as well as a Makita drill set and a pair of Ski-doo boots
– All three emergency services attended a Cramahe Twp home for an elderly male whose heart had apparently stopped beating. The 73 yr old male was revived by paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment (4:30pm)
– Family dispute in Campbellford (11pm) involving pushing and shoving between mother and son. Son left for the night, no charges resulted
Mar 22:
– Police attended a residential alarm in Seymour Twp (12:40am) at the request of the homeowner who was in the house. Officers checked the home and determined that there was a problem with the alarm system, all was ok
– Police attended a residential alarm in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp (3:40am). Officers found no-one home, all was secure.
– Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Cramahe Twp home (11am). A couple were found to be arguing over a purchase on Kijiji. Officers counselled all the family members on scene and left when they had calmed down. No charges resulted.
– Officers were called to an Alnwick-Haldimand Twp home where two boys had been fighting (aged 10 + 12). The older child sustained minor injuries. Both sets of families were spoken to by police. No charges resulted.
– Seasonal homeowner on Hermiston Rd Percy Twp reported someone had attempted to break in to her shed. No items were taken.
– Seasonal homeowner on Coles Point Rd Seymour Twp reported the theft of a boat motor sometime over the winter months. A 2004 Mercury 25hp electric start. Investigation ongoing.
– A 39 yr old Oshawa man was arrested on the strength of a committal warrant originating with the Family Responsibility Office by Port Hope Police. He was turned over to OPP officers who took him directly to the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay.
– Officers attended an Inn on County Rd 28 Port Hope for a depressed male reported by a family member. Officers spoke with the man who had been drinking and arranged for EMS to take him to a nearby hospital for treatment. (10:15pm)
Northumberland OPP officers also conducted 9 RIDE programs, investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions and 24 traffic related complaints.
