15 Year Old Snowmobiler Airlifted To Hospital

(MCMURRICH/MONTEITH) On March 21, 2015 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police was called to a single snowmobile collision. The collision occurred on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trail C103D in the Township of McMurrich/Monteith.

The 15 year old female driver from Tecumseh, Ontario was travelling north when she lost control of her snowmobile and struck a tree. The driver was airlifted by Orange Air Ambulance to hospital with serious injuries. Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.

Safety is important when travelling on a snowmobile. Here are some safety tips to help ensure a safe trip. Always remember to have equipment which includes; warm clothing, goggles, and a helmet that meets the minimum safety requirements and fits properly. Always carry a first aid kit, an emergency tool kit, a survival kit that includes flares and a cell phone. Let someone know where you are travelling to and when you plan on returning.
