Northumberland Weekend News Brief

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers dealt with a variety of calls this past weekend, here are some examples.

Apr 3:

– Suspicious male reported on Wallace St Campbellford staring at resident letting her dog out. Described as mid 20’s, brown curly hair wearing a red hoodie (12am). Gone upon police arrival

– Domestic in Brighton resulting in a 28 yr old Quinte West man being charged with Mischief Under $5,000 (X3), Theft of motor vehicle, Theft Under $5,000, Driving while under suspension and utter threats. He was held for a bail hearing.

– Report of a male dropping his pants in Brighton restaurant (10am). Police determined that it was accidental.

– 16 yr old Hastings youth reported out of control after smoking marijuana. EMS transported her to hospital for treatment (3pm)

– Ongoing trespassing issues by out of town fishermen on Vimy Ridge Rd (Alnwick-Haldimand Twp)

– 37 yr old Toronto man charged with stunt driving (excessive speed – 157km/h) in the Brighton area of Hwy 401 (7pm)

Apr 4:

– Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a Hamilton Twp home (1:45am). Alcohol was involved and the couple were separated for the night. No charges resulted

– Officers spoke to a 17 yr old youth regarding unwanted communication with his ex-girlfriend. No charges resulted.

– A 31 yr old Hamilton Twp man was charged with driving while his licence is under suspension after being stopped on Toronto Rd Port Hope for a licence plate infraction (1pm)

– Report of gun shots on Harwood Rd Hamilton Twp. Officers located several males legally skeet shooting (2:30pm)

– Officers attended a Colborne home for a dispute between parents and their 17 yr old daughter. Advice was given to family members, no further action.

Apr 5:

– Police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a Brighton home (7:30am). After investigation, a 38 yr old man was arrested and charged with Assault, Assault causing bodily harm and utter threats. He was held for a bail hearing.

– A Colborne resident reported someone had thrown and smeared fruit/cheese on her car

– Report of missing narcotics at a Trent Hills nursing home. Investigation ongoing

– A family dispute erupted when a mother/grandmother interrupted an Easter dinner to pick up a child from an ex-spouse at an Alnwick-Haldimand Twp home. Lots of pushing and shoving alleged. The investigation is ongoing.

– Police assisted EMS at a Cramahe Twp residence with a 30 yr old male who had overdosed on cocaine. He was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment.

Apr 6:

– A Trent Hills tenant requested police stand by while the landlord completed a safety inspection of the property (9:15am)

– 911 call from Wesleyville Rd area. Worker in the area trying to check his bank balance. No emergency.

– Purse reportedly stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Massey Rd Alnwick-Haldimand Twp (1pm)

– Report of two wolves near a Purdy Rd Cramahe Twp home. MNR advised (3pm)

– Report of a male lying on the school field in Grafton. Extensive search by police and fire officials proved negative. No such person located. (4:30pm)

– A Colborne resident reported that she answered a pop up ad on her computer and when she refused to send payment as was requested, her computer locked up. Canadian Anti-Fraud Ctr was contacted.

– Highly intoxicated male located by police near railroad tracks in Hamilton Twp. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment (9:45pm)

Northumberland OPP officers also conducted 16 RIDE programs, investigated six motor vehicle collisions and 41 traffic related complaints.
