(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls over this past weekend, here are some examples:
July 24:
– An assault investigation was initiated at the Warkworth Institution
– Police assisted in a kidney relay along Hwy 401 from Toronto to an Eastern Ontario hospital
– Cramahe Twp reported ongoing issues with persons uprooting trees and plants in Colborne mostly over weekends. Officers to focus patrols in those areas
– Report of a horse running loose at the Ganaraska Forest in Port Hope. It was later determined that the female rider had fallen off the animal. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries
– Several detachment officers involved in the fatal collision investigation on Hwy 401 in the Port Hope area which shut down all westbound lanes for 6hrs
– Several traffic related complaints due to highway closure
July 25:
– An ongoing neighbour dispute in Campbellford lead to the arrest of a 67 yr old woman for mischief and breaching conditions of her release on a prior charge involving the neighbour. Caller reported that she sprayed water through a window into a bedroom of his house causing damages. She was held for a bail hearing
– A domestic dispute at a Trent Hills resort resulted in a woman being charged with Assault and Assault with a weapon. She was released with an impending court date
– At 6:43pm police received a complaint of an erratic driver on Hwy 401 eastbound in the Grafton area. Officers located the blue Dodge pickup truck in the Colborne area and measured it travelling 164km/h. The driver had been drinking and subsequently failed a roadside test. He was arrested for impaired operation and his truck searched. Police seized a quantity of marihuana and cannabis resin. The man was taken to the Brighton detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, David REES age 63 of Brighton, Ontario is charged with Care and Control of a motor vehicle when his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood, Possession of a Schedule II substance: cannabis marihuana over 30g, Possession of a Schedule II substance: cannabis resin over 1g, Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed and failing to wear a seat belt. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 12, 2015.
– At 11:32pm a red Chev Monte Carlo was stopped by police in Hastings. The driver was found to have been drinking and failed a roadside test. He was taken to the Campbellford detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, James MCLAUGHLIN age 52 of Clarington, Ontario is charged with Care and Control of a motor vehicle when his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood and Driving while under suspension. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on September 1, 2015.
July 26:
– A family dispute erupted at 12:35am at a home in the Warkworth area when an intoxicated relative attempted to drive away. Relatives took his keys away which resulted in some pushing and shoving. The 44 yr old man was eventually driven home by another relative. No charges resulted at the request of the family
– An assault complaint that occurred at a Colborne business at 1:10am resulted in a 35 yr old local woman being charged with Assault X2 and Uttering Death Threats.
– An assault complaint that occurred at a wedding party in Campbellford at 1:23am is under investigation
– An assault complaint that occurred at a Brighton apartment building at 3:45am is under investigation
– A group of mailboxes were damaged overnight on Lakeshore Rd in Alnwick- Haldimand Twp
– Report of damaged 911 address signs and a mailbox sometime overnight on Nawautin Dr in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp
– Report of an intoxicated female in Trent Hills who had overdosed on medications in an attempt at self-harm. She was taken to a hospital by EMS for treatment with her medical and mental health issues
– A resident on County Rd 45 north of Roseneath reported finding the remains of a lamb which he suspected had been ‘gutted’ by someone. Investigation ongoing
Northumberland OPP also investigated 19 motor vehicle collisions and 41 traffic related complaints.
