(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past weekend. Here are some examples:
Nov 19:
– Report of a cow eating grass at the side of the 6th Line Port Hope. The officer managed to return the animal to its enclosure and notify the owner
– A Alnwick-Haldimand Twp resident contacted police about being harassed by his partner’s ex-boyfriend via social media. Officers spoke to all persons involved and provided advice which included settling child custody issues through the courts. No charges resulted
– As a result of an investigation into the death of a dog owned by a Campbellford resident, a 57 yr old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Killing an Animal. He was held for a bail hearing.
Nov 20:
– Report of a break in at a Victoria Square apartment in Colborne. Electronics and food was taken. Investigation ongoing
– Several mailboxes in the area of Danforth Rd E Hamilton Twp damaged sometime overnight
– RIDE program on County Rd 30 in Brighton resulted in Brian PETERSON age 58 of Brighton, Ontario being charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 16, 2015
– Complaint of a green Subaru running a red light in Campbellford led to the arrest of Mykhaylo SAVCHENKO age 63 of Hastings, Ontario. The car was located at a parking lot on Grand Rd. He was charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood and breaching conditions of a prior release relating to an assault with a weapon. He was held for a bail hearing
Nov 21:
– At 2:09am police responded to reports of a blue Land Rover that was lying on its side in a ditch on County Rd 2 west of Grafton. The driver, who had sustained minor injuries, was subsequently arrested and charged with Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood and Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle. Michael DUPUIS age 48 of Grafton, Ontario is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 16, 2015
– An elderly dementia sufferer became separated from her family when going out for a walk in Brighton. Officers located her and returned her to her family
– ATV stolen from a drive shed on 6th Line E Seymour Twp in last few days. Described as a 2003 grey Polaris 4-wheeler, Magnum 330, Ont. Lic. #14NJ6.
Nov 22:
– Noise complaint at 12:32am of loud music at a trailer park in Gore’s Landing. Officers located the trailer and had the owner turn the music down.
– A resident on Percy Boom Rd Seymour Twp reported the theft of a generator and chop saw from his garage sometime between Friday and Sunday
– Report of a pontoon boat stored at a residence on Concession Rd 9 East in Percy Twp being damaged. The tarp, seats and folding canopy had been slashed and the gas lines were cut. Investigation ongoing.
Northumberland OPP also conducted nine RIDE programs, investigated 17 motor vehicle collisions, 38 traffic related complaints and 11 accidental 911 calls.
