North Perth Resident Caught Going 137 On Hwy 86 – Vehicle Impounded

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Wednesday April 13, 2016, shortly before 7 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducting speed enforcement on Perth Line 86 pulled over a fast moving motor vehicle.

A red Dodge Ram pickup truck was observed driving east bound on Perth Line 86, west of Perth Road 121 at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the police radar and a reading of 137 km/h was displayed. This is 57 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone.

The male driver of the pickup truck, 43-year-old Jason Neal GERBER of the Municipality of North Perth was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is to appear in Stratford Court on May 24, 2016, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.

With warmer weather approaching and road conditions becoming more favourable for travelling, motorists are reminded that posted speed limits are not guidelines, they are the law.

Consider; leaving sooner, driving slower and living longer.
