(PETROLIA, ON) – On Friday October 31st, 2015 at approximately 2:34 a.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner on Petrolia Line, Town of Petrolia.
Lambton County OPP continued to follow the motor vehicle for several blocks before conducting a traffic stop on Garfield Street, Town of Petrolia. While speaking with the lone male driver of the motor vehicle, investigating officers suspected that there was alcohol in the driver’s body and made a roadside breath demand. The male driver provided a suitable sample into the Approved Screening Device (ASD) which resulted in a “fail.” The driver was consequently arrested and during a search of the accused, officers located a small plastic container containing approximately 2.4 grams of suspected cocaine in the accused pocket. The accused was then transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for further breath testing which resulted in readings above the legal limit.
As a result, 26 year-old Noah Edward TOWELL of Oil Springs, ON was charged with,
Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood
Possession on Schedule I Substance
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday November 18th, 2015.
The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
