(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a 22-year-old from Huron East with Possession of a Controlled Substance following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend. Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on October 17, 2015 a Huron OPP officer spotted a Toyota Corolla travelling northbound on Krauter Line. The officer noticed the absence of functioning brake lights on the vehicle so a traffic stop was initiated.
Upon speaking with the five occupants in the vehicle officers observed an open can of beer in the backseat compartment area. Upon further examination officers observed a rear seat passenger to be in possession of a baggie containing a small quantity of an illegal drug. In addition, the same passenger was in possession of an open bottle of liquor.
Matthew SPRINGALL, 22 years of age has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug & Substance Schedule I (Cocaine) and Having Liquor in an Open Container other than a Residence, Licensed Premise or Private Place.
He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 7, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
