(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – March 4th, 2016 at approximately 10:48 p.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) conducted a traffic stop on Valley Crescent in Elliot Lake.
The vehicle stopped and the officer observed the driver move from the driver seat to a rear seat. Police advised the driver that he was under arrest when he fled from police.
On March 7, 2016 the accused was located and arrested by police.
Charged with the following is Desi Morgan NEWTON (37) of Elliot Lake.
Escape Lawful Custody as per sec. 145(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Obstruct Peace Officer as per sec. 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Drive while Disqualified as per sec. 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada
The charged male is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court May 3, 2016.
