Napanee Weekend At A Glance

(NAPANEE, ON) – In the 48 hours between the early morning hours of March 25th and the afternoon of Sunday March 26th officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police towed 15 vehicles from Highway 401 and local roads including a vehicle traveling 160 kilometers an hour in a posted 80 kilometer an hour zone on Taylor Kidd Boulevard in Loyalist Township.

Distracted driving, speed and/or aggressive driving, driving while impaired either by drug or alcohol and not wearing your seatbelt are the leading causes of collision related fatalities on OPP patrolled highways.

ten drivers were charged for stunt driving; excessive speed in excess of 50km over the posted speed limit which carries a fine of up to $10,000, immediate licence suspension for 7 days and the vehicle is impounded for 7 days

four drivers were charged with driving while their drivers license was suspended which is punishable by fine or incarceration

one driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle at a RIDE Program

one driver was issued a three day suspension for driving in the warn range

one driver was arrested for being in possession of 20 grams of cocaine driving through a RIDE Program

Drugs found During RIDE Program

(Napanee, ON) – On Saturday March 25th in the early morning hours night officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a RIDE Program on Centre Street. A male driver approaching the officers was seen hiding something within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was completed by officers and approximately 20 grams of cocaine were located in the vehicle.

Charged are Jordan DALLARD a 31 year old male from Belleville and Holly GIBSON a 29 year old female from Belleville.

The accused are charged with being in Possession of a Schedule I Drug and Failing to comply with their Probation. The male and female were held overnight and appeared in Bail Court in Kingston on March 25th.

Driver Stopped for Speeding Licence Driver found to be Impaired

(Stone Mills Township, ON) – On Saturday March 25th in the evening officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a RIDE Program on Wheeler Road in Tamworth when they noted a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and the driver spoken to by police. The officer’s investigation determined the male driver had been drinking.

The driver David ELLIS a 44 year old man from Stone Mills Township was asked to blow into a Roadside Screening device used by police to determine the amount if any of alcohol in a driver’s system. The driver failed the roadside and was transported back to the detachment to provide samples of his breath.

The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and a second charge of having over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood was added at the completion of the investigation.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a first appearance date of April 25th in Napanee Court.

Driver Stopped on County Road 41 for Suspected Impairment

(Napanee, ON) – On Saturday March 25th in the evening an officer with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a driver on County Road 41 north of Napanee. The officer was behind the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop out of concern the driver may be impaired.

After speaking with the driver he was requested to blow into a Roadside Screening Device to determine the amount of alcohol if any the driver has in their system. The male driver, Joseph DELYA a 28 year old male from Kaladar blew in the Warn Range” which is a 3 day license suspension. The males driver’s licence was suspended at the roadside.
