(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – From July 25th until July 31st, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is conducting an educational campaign to raise awareness of a driver’s move over” obligations designed to protect emergency workers on the side of the road. The South Bruce OPP is taking this opportunity to promote the flashing green light that also identifies an emergency responder.
The Ontario Highway Traffic Act Section 62(16) gives a fire fighter the authority to carry a green lamp that produces intermittent flashes of green light. The Ministry of Transportation wrote this law to help the public identify a volunteer fire fighter that is responding to an emergency call out.
The use of the green light gives them no special privilege
