MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – SERIOUS INJURIES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment continues to investigate a single motor vehicle collision which injured 7 persons at a Marburg Road, Norfolk County, ON address.

On Saturday August 16th, 2014 at approximately 9:10 pm Emergency Services were called to the Marburg Road address after a pickup truck had left the road, entered a ditch and ejected the passengers.

Norfolk County Fire & Rescue along with Norfolk County Paramedics attended the scene and provided emergency medical care to the injured. Two of the injured a young male and female were air lifted to a Hamilton hospital with serious injuries. The other 5 persons involved sustained non-life threatening injuries and were all transported by ambulance to a hospital.

Police investigation has thus far revealed that a blue 2001 Ford pickup truck being operated by a 17 year old Norfolk County, ON male was travelling southbound on Marburg Road, south of St. John’s Road when it left the roadway, rolled over several times ejecting two passengers a teenaged male and female that were riding in the open box of the pickup truck. Both sustained serious injury and are currently in hospital listed in stable condition.

The other 4 passengers all female and the male driver who ranged in age from 15 to 17 years of age and were riding in the cab of the pickup truck sustained non – life threatening injuries.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) is assisting with the investigation.

Marburg Road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation and clean-up of the collision.
