Date: Monday, August 4, 2014 – 9:30pm
On the 4th of August 2014 at approximately 9 pm, Barrie Police began receiving numerous calls regarding a green pick up truck driving erratically in the cities east end. One of the callers even reported that the vehicle had struck her vehicle and fled the area. Officers attended the area in regards to locating the truck and its driver. While checking the east end, Police received a call that the same green pick up truck had been involved in a motor vehicle collision on Sunnidale Road in the area of Livingstone.
Witnesses report that the 70 year old male driver was driving his truck northbound on Sunnidale Road near Livingstone when he struck a parked motor vehicle causing his vehicle to spin out of control and roll several times. The male was trapped within the motor vehicle and required the assistance of the fire department to remove him from the vehicle. Once removed the male was transported to the RVH with serious to life threatening injuries.
The Barrie Police Traffic Unit is currently investigating the matter. It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. If anyone has information pertaining to this accident they are ask to call Constable Avery of the Barrie Police Traffic Unit.
