More Impaired Drivers Busted

(COCHRANE, ON) – Cochrane officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two women for alcohol related offences this past weekend.

On January 13, 2017, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police were advised of a female sleeping in a parked motor vehicle in a parking lot on Highway 11 in the Town of Cochrane.

Police investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcohol. Kirsten ANDERSON, 25, of Cochrane, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Care or Control While Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Care or Control Over 80 mgs contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC

Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CC

On January 14, 2017, at approximately 5:15 p.m., police were advised of a motor vehicle in the ditch on a concession road on the outskirts of the Town of Cochrane. The motor vehicle was located on Fournier Access Road in Fournier Township and police investigation revealed that the female driver had consumed alcohol.

Samantha MCTEER, 23, of Cochrane, Ontario was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC.

She was also charged with the offence of Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario (LLA) and Fail to notify change of address contrary to section 9(2) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA).

Both accused persons are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on January 31, 2017 to answer to the charges.
