(RED LAKE, ON) β On April 21, 2016 officers of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 125. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. A roadside test was conducted which resulted in the driver failing it. The male driver was arrested for Driving with Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and returned to the OPP detachment in Red Lake for further testing. As a result, Samson LEVEQUE, 31, of Poplar Hill, has been charged with Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. He was released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on June 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
On May 1, 2016, officers on patrol in Balmertown stopped a vehicle. A roadside test was conducted and the male driver failed. At that time the driver was arrested for Over 80 and returned to Red Lake Detachment for further tests. As a result of the investigation, Kristian ECHAVARRIA, 27, of Red Lake was charged with Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on June 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
Later that day, police received a report of a possible impaired driver departing Red Lake for Thunder Bay. Officers located the vehicle in Red Lake at a local gas station and spoke to the driver. Officers made a roadside demand, which the male driver failed. The male driver was also returned to Red Lake Detachment for further tests after being arrested for Over 80. As a result of the investigation, John Mueller, 52, of Thunder Bay was charged with Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on June 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.
