More Impaired Drivers Busted

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four drivers over the weekend with criminal driving offences – three of the four were alcohol related driving charges.

The first driver was arrested on Saturday October 29, 2016 at approximately 2:43pm following an investigation. The driver, George TINDALL, 58 years of age of Kirkfield, was operating a lawn tractor on Portage Road in Kirkfield, while disqualified from driving. He is charged with Driving While Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on November 17, 2016.

A driver was arrested on Saturday October 29, 2016 at approximately 8:50pm following a traffic stop on Mount Horeb Road. The driver, Joshua LANDRY, 27 years of age of Omemee, is charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CCC. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 1, 2016.

A driver was arrested on Saturday October 29, 2016 at approximately 10:45pm following an investigation on Highway 35 near Cambray Road. The driver, Thomas YEO, 55 years of age of Lindsay, is charged with the following offences:

Driving While Ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CCC

Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – cannabis marihuana contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 1, 2016.

A further driver was arrested on Saturday October 29, 2016 at approximately 11:30pm following a stop at a R.I.D.E. check being conducted at the intersection of Highway 35 and Killarney Bay Road. The driver, David DARGUS, 54 years of age of North York is charged with Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 1, 2016.
