More Drunk Drivers Arrested – MUL, DAVIES, HAMILTON & SEWELL

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their efforts to get drunk drivers off the road. Despite public education, warnings, and the potential consequences of drinking and driving, some drivers still choose to drive while impaired by alcohol and or drugs.

Since the Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program began on November 24, 2017, four (4) drivers have been charged with alcohol related driving offences in Grey County.

1. On November 24, 2017, following a single motor vehicle collision in the Township of Chatsworth, Piotr Tom MUL, 41 of Mississauga, was charged with Impaired Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle; Over 80 Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle; Possession of Marihuana – under 30 grams and Consume Liquor other than licence premise, residence or private place. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on December 21, 2017.

2. On November 25, 2017, as a result of a traffic complaint in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, Emma Katherine DAVIES, 33, of Georgian Bluffs, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Having a Blood Alcohol Content of Over 80 Milligrams, and Driving while Disqualified. She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on December 21, 2017.

3. On December 2, 2017, as a result of a single motor collision in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, Kyle HAMILTON, 22, of Erin, was charged with Impaired Operation / Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle / Cause Death-Alcohol; Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood; Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle / Cause accident with Fatality. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on January 11, 2018.

4. On December 9, 2017, as a result of a R.I.D.E. check in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, Taylor James SEWELL, 23, of South Bruce Peninsula, was charged with Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on January 4, 2018.

Although the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign wraps up on January 2, 2018, police conduct R.I.D.E. programs throughout the year.

Grey County OPP would like to remind everyone to drive responsibly. If you drink – don’t drive. It’s that simple.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drug or alcohol, call 9-1-1 and report the information to police.
