MISSING ELDERLY WOMAN QUICKLY LOCATED WITH THE PUBLIC’S HELP

(ORILLIA, ON) – On Thursday, November 21, 2013, members of the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment focused their efforts in locating a 98 year old woman who had walked away from a local retirement home in Orillia.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. police were notified that the female could not be found in the retirement home and she had not been seen for a couple of hours. Police immediately began a search of the area. Forty five minutes later, police located her with the assistance of a local resident in the area of the former Park Street Collegiate Secondary School.

The local resident heard a cry for help and flagged down a police officer who was conducting a ground search of that area. They found the female in a ravine between the school property and Carter Crescent. She was taken to hospital by ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries.

Police would like to that the public for their assistance with locating this female. Quick action by both the public and the police resulted in this female being quickly located and returned to her family.
