(HALIBURTON, ON) – Just after 5:00pm on April 25, 2016 Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Dysart et al Fire Department and Haliburton County Paramedics were notified that two canoes had capsized on Eagle Lake.
Some of the occupants had managed to get to shore, two males did not return. They were not wearing a PFD. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the location and assisted in the search.
On April 26, 2016 just before 12:00pm with the assistance of the Under Water Search and Recovery Unit, (USRU) the two males identified as 24 year-old Kajan KALAPAHAN and 21 year-old Lingavijithan KIRUPANAYAGAM both from Toronto, ON were recovered from Eagle Lake.
