MISCHIEF BY PELLET GUN

(COLBORNE, ON) – On Thursday September 4 and Sunday September 7, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received two separate reports of residences in Colborne, Ontario being shot at by unknown person (s) with a pellet or BB type gun.

The September 4 incident occurred at about 9:15 pm on Church Street East and the September 7 incident occurred at about 6:45 pm on Division Street. A loud “shotgun” sound was reported to have been heard. Officers attending located small rounded projectile objects at both addresses however; there is no evidence to suggest that the two incidents are connected. OPP officers spoke with the complainants in both incidents and canvassed the neighbourhood for information. No one was injured, but a few windows have been broken and siding penetrated.

OPP are continuing to investigate.

Northumberland OPP is concerned for the public safety surrounding these occurrences due to the potential for serious injury and or property damage. Officer safety is another issue because of the implications that come with those who may be in possession of imitation firearms. Preservation of property and life are paramount to the Ontario Provincial Police in all aspects of protecting the community.
