On the 6th of February 2014 at approximately 9:30pm, Police attended a south end restaurant in regards to a male hanging around the women’s washroom acting suspiciously. Police attended and determined no criminal offences had been committed, however, the male when being removed had no place to go. Police accomodated the male and took him to the out of the cold program where he was provided a warm bed to sleep.
Just after midnight, police were called to the out of the cold program as the male was causing a disturbance within the building and volunteers wanted him removed. Police attended and removed the male from the premise. The male again had not committed an offence and with the temperatures below minus 20 degrees, nowhere to go, officers brought him to the police station front lobby to keep warm until day break.
At approximately 5:15am, the male was engaged in a conversation with an officer at the front desk when he became enraged and was asked to leave. The male refused to leave at which time he grabbed the officers coffee sitting on the front desk and threw it against the front door causing it to spill and spray everywhere.
The 36 year old male was subsequently arrested for the offence of mischief. He was kept warm for the remainder of the morning………………in a concrete cell!!
The male was later released with a court date in late March.
