(Douro Dummer Township) – On Saturday October 25, members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a Fraud that targeted a senior living in Douro Dummer.
Police investigation reviled that a senior couple received a phone call from a Company identifying itself as Global Commination advising that there was a problem with their computer. The victims were asked to confirm personal information which included their Social Insurance and Credit Card Information.
The victim provided this information however realized this was not a legitimate enquiring and immediately advised their bank of the Fraud.
OPP are reminding the public to never give out your personal details and information unless it is absolutely necessary and only when you trust the person you are speaking to or dealing with.
Treat your personal detail like you would treat money don’t leave them lying around for others to take.
