(HALIBURTON, ON) – On January 16, 2016 at approximately 12:19 a.m., members from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Halbiem Crescent in the Township of Dysart et al.
After a speaking to the driver it was determined that the male’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.
Michael ZAHN, 42 years old of Dysart et al has been charged with the following:
Drive While Impaired by Alcohol Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Drive with more than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood Section 253(1)(b) CC
Drive motor vehicle, no validated permit Section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Drive motor vehicle, no licence Section 32(1) of the HTA
Fail to notify change of address-licence Section 33(1) of the HTA
A 90 day driver’s licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on March 2, 2016.
