MEYER – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On April 13, 2016, at approximately 1:12 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Enforcement Team (HET) were travelling on Highway 401 westbound, near Highbury Avenue, in the City of London, Ontario, when a pickup truck pulling a trailer, also travelling westbound, jerked into the adjacent lane, almost colliding with the police vehicle.

The police vehicle made an emergency lane change to avoid the collision, and conducted a vehicle stop. Officers determined the male driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”.

The driver was arrested, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, 53-year-old Christopher MEYER, from Southwold Township, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charge in a London court on May 4, 2016.
