Methamphetamine Bust In Vanastra – BARRY & WARDELL

(HURON EAST, ON) – Two Huron County males have been charged with drug and weapons related charges following a traffic stop that was conducted in Vanastra last week.

Around 1:13 a.m. on July 19, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer noticed the driver of a minivan fail to signal his turn at the intersection of St. Charles Place and 5th Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and while the officer was speaking with the occupants an open can of beer was observed inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted which led to officers locating and seizing open alcohol, a collapsible baton, drug paraphernalia and a substantial amount of methamphetamine.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The driver, 38-year-old Kevin BARRY has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 14, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

The passenger, 35-year-old Manos WARDELL has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Fail to Comply with Probation Order (4) counts and Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order (3) counts. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 27, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
