(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 23-year-old male with drug offences and a Highway Traffic Act violation following a traffic stop at a King Street West, Hagersville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Thursday January 26, 2017 at 1:37 p.m., an alert OPP officer observed a male committing an offence under the Highway Traffic Act and subsequently stopped the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, a quantity of a controlled substance was located in the vehicle resulting in OPP investigating further.
The male was arrested at the scene.
OPP has charged 23-year-old Matthew LUPTON of Hagersville, Ontario with:
possession of a schedule I substance,
possession of a schedule II substance, and
driving a motor vehicle while using a handheld communication device
He is to appear in Provincial Court Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
