(HEARST, ON) â On December 1, 2016 at approximately 1:10 p.m., Hearst officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of an improperly stored firearm at a residence on 10th Street in the Town of Hearst.
The OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP North East Region Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant which produced one firearm, several rounds of ammunition and a small quantity of gun powder.
Martin LESSARD, 37, of Hearst, Ontario has been arrested and charged with Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on December 21, 2016 to answer to the charges.
