(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in a small quantity of marihuana being seized and the driver being charged.
On March 31, 2014 an OPP officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 35 near Mount Horeb Road. The vehicle was travelling at 113 km/h at the time. While speaking with the driver the officer determined that there was marihuana present in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Paul SMITH, 32 years of age, of Toronto, was charged with speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and with possession of marihuana, under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on May 1, 2014.
