(GORE BAY, ON) – During this past weekend the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had their Bicycle Patrol out and about during the Harbour Days celebration in Gore Bay. On Saturday evening during the event two officers were patrolling the downtown core of Gore Bay. They were able to make a number of open liquor seizures. S/Sgt. Kevin Webb Detachment Commander for the Manitoulin OPP commented that “the bicycles are an excellent tool to use in these types of events. No one expects a police officer to silently ride up beside you. Officers are able to hear and see things that would not be able to in a marked police cruiser. Plus it is a great public relations feature as police officers can get places and respond quickly to events such as this.â€Â
