Just before 3:00 a.m. police responded to a report of suspicious males in the area of Bruce Street in Wallaceburg. Officers observed two men dressed in black clothing on Wallace Street near Albert Street. The officers instructed the men to stop however they fled on foot. Both men were apprehended moments later for investigative purposes.
One man refused to be handcuffed and attempted to swing his arm towards the officer. The man continued to refuse the officer’s commands, however he did finally comply. As the man was placed up against the cruiser for a search incident to arrest, the man raised his head and struck the rear window causing it to completely shatter. EMS was contacted as the man suffered minor cuts to his face. For his own safety, the man was moved against a second cruiser. While awaiting EMS arrival, the man lunged at the rear window of this second cruiser, striking it with his head, also causing it to shatter.
The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention where he was treated and released. The man was then transported to police headquarters. Through investigation, the officers learned that the man was also currently bound by curfew condition. The 18-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with resist arrest, mischief under $5000 x2 and failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
