The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an incident of domestic violence yesterday in Chatham.
Around 4:00 p.m. the man and woman were walking in the area of McNaughton Avenue West and Sandy Street when a verbal argument began. It is alleged that the man became physical and assaulted the woman by striking her in the face. The woman did not require medical attention.
Through investigation, the woman revealed previous incidents of domestic violence during their relationship.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. the man was located on Mary Street and he was arrested. The 21-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault x2 and forcible confinement. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
