Mallory LESAGE – Drunk Driving

(MASSEY, ON)- On August 14, 2016, members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Sagamok Anishinabek Police Service established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Lee Valley road, in the town of Massey.

At approximately 1:30 am, officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a female who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program. Investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking.

The driver, Mallory LESAGE, 25 years of age from Garden River First Nation, was arrested and charged with:

Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicleshe was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on September 6, 2016, to answer to her charge.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
