(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Friday the 10th of January 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a domestic assault at a residence in the Town of Bancroft. Officers attended the location and investigation revealed that an adult female had been physically assaulted by an adult male. As a result the male was arrested and transported the Bancroft OPP detachment.
A 33 year old male from the Bancroft area has been charged with:
Assault (3 counts)
Forcible confinement (2 counts)
Fail to comply with a probation order
Criminal harassment
Utter threats
Mischief
Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, Ontario. His next scheduled court appearance is at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on the 13th of January 2014.
