(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday March 20, 2015, shortly after 11 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the area of Line 39 just west of Perth Road 119 (north of Stratford), for a smashed mailbox incident.
Investigation revealed that the occupants of a small vehicle with a “tin can” exhaust were driving around and smashing rural roadside mailboxes. Mailboxes in the area east of the Stratford Airport on Line 40 were also damaged. On Saturday March 24 three additional victims reported their mailboxes destroyed.
One Perth Road 113 (Embro Road) resident reported the theft of a custom made mailbox and chain link post from the edge of the roadway in front of his house. This occurred sometime after 11 p.m. on Friday night.
All these mischiefs and thefts occurred within a 6 km radius of Stratford.
The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone else with a mailbox that was damaged or stolen between Friday and Saturday (March 20 – 21), or who has information about these senseless acts, to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
