LOTTERY SCAM

(POWASSAN, ON)-The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Powassan Detachment was advised of a local citizen who had fallen prey to a telephone lottery scam. The victim was told they had won $2.5 million, but in order to receive the money they had to send money for administration fees. This resulted in the victim losing a total of $500.

If you discover that you have become a victim of a fraud or scam, contact your local police immediately. If your credit cards or banking information are involved, notify the companies as soon as you can so they may assist you. Occasionally checking your credit rating will ensure that you have not become a fraud victim.
