(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a traffic complaint after being contacted by concerned citizens in Norfolk County, Ontario.
On Saturday, April 4, 2015, at approximately 9:04 p.m., concerned motorists contacted police after unknowns were shining laser pointers at drivers of motor vehicles travelling on Charlotteville East Quarter Line Road.
Police are urging everyone to use common sense when it comes to the use of laser pointers. Laser pointers can cause temporary blindness or blind spots and it is extremely dangerous to point the laser anywhere near vehicles. If the beam happens to catch a driver in the eye, the driver could lose the ability to see where he or she is going, or the driver could accidentally jerk the wheel to the side when he or she reflexively jumps from the beam.
This is a very dangerous act that had the potential to cause a collision and injury to the operator of the vehicle or another innocent motorist travelling on the roadway,” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
