Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 24 October 2016, to the 30 October 2016, there were 101 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were twenty motor vehicle collisions, five were animal related. Several collisions were directly related to the weather and road conditions. Police remind motorists to remain cautious, decrease speed, install winter tires and give yourself enough time to get to your destination.

There were three domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 24 October 2016, to the 30 October 2016. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.

Assault

On the 30 October 2016 at approximately 1:47 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Szczygiel and Constable Chris Teasdale received a domestic dispute call for service on Algonquin Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 37 yr. old male from Bonnechere Valley Twp. has been charged with Assault, section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Drugs and Firearms Charges

On the 25 October 2016 at approximately 7:50 pm., Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet conducted a traffic stop for speeding on Highway #60 in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. The driver was found to be in possession of firearm and a quantity of suspected cannabis marihuana. As a result of police investigation, 49 yr. old Mark WATSON from Arnprior has been charged with Possession of a Firearm, x 3 section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and Possession of a Schedule ll Substance Cannabis Resin, section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused was held for a bail hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Drug and Breach Charges

On the 28 October 2016 at approximately 4:10 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre and Constable Glenn Yaraskavitch attended a residence on Heritage Road, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. in response to an assist call for service. Subsequent to police investigation, 28 yr. old Joseph WEARE from Pembroke has been charged with Breach of Recognizance section 145(3), of the Criminal Code of Canada, Production of a Schedule l or ll Substance, section 7.1 (1), Possession of a Schedule ll Substance, Cannabis Marihuana, section 4(1) and Possession of a Schedule ll Substance, Other Drug, section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. A second female, 27 yr. old Jessie TALES of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. has been charged with Production of a Schedule l or ll Substance, section 7.1(1), Possession of a Schedule ll Substance, Cannabis Marihuana, section 4(1), and Possession of a Schedule ll Substance Other Drug section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both accused were held for a bail hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Impaired Driving Charges

On the 30 October 2016 at approximately 5:19 pm, Whitney Constable Mike Holbrook conducted a traffic stop on Brudenell Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. Subsequent to police investigation, 39 yr. old James MCCLURE of Admaston, Bromley Twp. has been charged with Impaired Operation, section 253(1)(a) and Over 80, section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The licence was suspended and the vehicle towed. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.
