Killaloe OPP Weekly Press Release

During the week of April 24, 2017, to April 30, 2017 there were 85 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eight motor vehicle collisions, five were animal related.

There were two domestic dispute calls for service, and one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.

Mischief Charge

On Tuesday April 25, 2017 at approximately 1:18 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre and Constable Chris Teasdale responded to a domestic dispute call for service on Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation. As a result of police investigation, a 28 yr. old male from Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation has been charged with Domestic Mischief, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail hearing, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Drug Charges

On Friday April 28, 2017 at approximately 10:43 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable John Thurston and Sgt. Yvan Pelletier stopped a motor vehicle at a RIDE program, on Highway 60, North Algona Wilberforce Twp. As a result of police investigation, 23 yr. old Joshua ROWAN, of Admaston Bromley Twp. has been charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.. A second male, 21 yr. old Jordan ROWAN of Admaston Bromley Twp. has been charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both accused were released on Appearance Notices, to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe, Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 9:30 am.

Breach of Probation Charges

On Monday April 24, 2017 at approximately 6:23 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Jeff Turnbull and Constable Ryan Lapierre conducted a traffic stop on Highway 60, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. As a result of police investigation, 41 yr. old Sandra ANTHONY of Madawaska Valley Twp. has been charged with 3 counts of Breach of Probation, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail hearing, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Impaired Charges

On Thursday April 27, 2017 at approximately 5:05 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable John Thurston conducted a traffic stop on Bonnechere St West, Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, 59 yr. old Robert MENARD of Ottawa has been charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe, Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 9:30 am. The vehicle was towed and the licence suspended.

Collisions

On Saturday April 29, 2017, at approximately 5:41 pm, members of the Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle ATV collision call for service on Eneas Creek Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. The male was transported to hospital by ORANGE Air with non-life threatening injuries. This incident remains under investigation.

On Wednesday April 26, 2017 at approximately 9:58 am, Killaloe OPP Constable John Thurston responded to a motor vehicle collision call for service on Opeongo Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, the 65 yr. old female driver from Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice. There were no injuries and no tow required.

The Killaloe OPP would like to remind the community of important fraud related information. Do not give out personal information over the telephone. Do not fall victim to money transfer scams such as Western Union. Do not respond to or open emails from sources you do not know.
