(CALEDON, ON) – On April 13th, 2015 at 6:47 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Airport Road, south of Old School Road. The officer observed the driver of a silver Dodge Caravan pass a group of motor vehicles in the northbound lane. The officer determined the speed to be 160km/hr. in an 80 km/hr. zone. Subsequently, the officer conducted a vehicle stop. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The officer demanded the driver provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The driver registered a fail and he was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the traffic stop, Kevin J. MAREK, 47, from Orangeville was charged with Over 80 and Stunt Driving.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released and he is scheduled to make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 23rd, 2015.
