Kenora OPP Press Releases

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two 17 year olds with offences following a collision involving a 4 wheeled Off Road Vehicle (ORV).

Kenora OPP were called on Saturday July 25 just after 7:30 pm and advised of an ORV collision on McCallum Point Road. Police were advised that the ORV was being operated by a 17 year old female driver when she lost control and the ORV entered the bush off the roadway, throwing all three occupants from the vehicle. All three occupants were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the 17 year old driver from Alberta has been charged with Careless Driving contrary to section 16 of the Off Road Vehicles Act (ORVA). The 17 year old male passenger of Manitoba has been charged with Fail to Wear Proper Helmet contrary to section 19(1) ORVA. Both were issued Provincial Offence Notices.

BREAK AND ENTER CHARGES

(KENORA, ON) A 24 year old Kenora man has been charged with several offences following a report of a break and enter in progress at a business on Golf Course Road in the City of Kenora. On Monday July 27, 2015 around 2:00 am, police attended a business on Golf Course Road in Kenora and noted forced entry to the building. An OPP K9 unit attended and assisted in searching for the suspect. Shortly after, patrol officers located a male in the vicinity of the break in.

As a result of this investigation, 27 year old Naiche KEESIC of Kenora has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code;

Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence section 348(1)(b)

Trespassing at Night section 177

Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts) section 733.1(1)

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 27, 2015.

BREAK AND ENTER

(KENORA, ON) On Monday July 27, 2015 shortly after 6:30 am, members of the Kenora OPP were dispatched to a break and enter at a residence North of Kenora. Police were advised that sometime over night unknown suspect(s) entered the residence and stole a number of items including electronics, jewelry and firearms.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Kenora Forensic Identification Unit (FISU). Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Kenora OPP at 807-548-5534 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-tips.
