Last night’s packed council meeting was chaired by Neil Vincent, and
Vincent alone. Gary Long was not their to offer Reeve Vincent
guidance, and the public got to witness the most odd contract/tender
process ever. If you have ever thought we have exaggerated
council’s incompetence in the past, you must watch the 27 minute
fiasco, or read just a tiny excerpt of the conversation below.
Someone has submitted an offer to North Huron, to rent the 230 acres
at the airport, for $270/acre. This information was released
in the Agenda Package, and was discussed at the council
meeting. Typically council would keep this information
confidential, advertise the property for rent, accept closed bids,
then accept the highest qualified bid. This is normally
considered the fair and honest way to conduct municipal affairs, and
meant to help reduce the chance of back room deals”. This is
a contract for $61
