(NAPANEE, ON) A cube van, reported stolen to the Napanee OPP yesterday morning, was spotted by an OPP officer on Hwy 401 westbound near Mitchell Road later that morning at approximately 10 a.m.
The driver pulled the vehicle onto the shoulder of the highway and fled into the woods on foot.
Officers with Belleville City Police and a K-9 Unit from Kingston Police Force responded to assist the OPP in containing the area. The K-9 Unit located the suspect 40 minutes later approximately 1 km away, hiding in long grass.
Officers arrested 44 year-old Trevor STEWART of No Fixed Address. He was held for a bail hearing and faces charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, and possession of break and enter tools.
