(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 2, 2014 at approximately 6:13 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) responded to a 2013 Ford pickup truck in a ditch on Side Road 17, Mapleton Township.
The officer spoke with the male driver and observed signs of impairment by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for testing.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Johan SCHMITT age 34 of Mapleton Township has been charged with Care and Control While Impaired, and Care and Control Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 9, 2015 to answer to the charges.
