Joey BERUBE – Theft, Break and Enter, Firearm Theft, etc. etc.

(HEARST, ON) – On September 2, 2016, approximately 5:50 a.m., the James Bay Detachments Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a motor vehicle collision on Laflamme Road in Casgrain Township, just north of the Town of Hearst.

Police investigation revealed that a male attended a residence on Alexandra Street, broke into a garage and stole a firearm and ammunition. The suspect then attended a residence on Laflamme Road, entered a garage and stole some stereo equipment as well as a chainsaw. From that property, the male stole the motor vehicle that was involved in the motor vehicle collision.

The male returned to the residence on Laflamme Road stole a motocross type of motorcycle. With the motorcycle, the male proceeded to cause damage at the Hearst Golf Club.

The male was identified as, Joey BERUBE, 19, of Hearst, Ontario; he was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Break and enter a place commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) CC

Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) CC

Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 334(a) CC

Break and enter a place and steal a firearm contrary to section 98(1)(b) CC

Break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) CC

Adult Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime contrary to section 96(a) CC

Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge contrary to section 145(5.1) CC

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Hearst Ontario Court of Justice on October 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
