(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid multiple charges at a RIDE program yesterday.
On March 3, 2024 shortly after midnight, officers were conducting a RIDE program at Highway 62 near Rossmore. Officers spoke with a driver who entered the RIDE and as a result, an approved screening device was administered. It was also later learned that the driver had provided a false identification.
Jibran HUSSAIN, age 31 from Markham was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice
- Operation while prohibited
- Obstruct peace officer
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 27, 2024. The driver also had their vehicle impounded.
