Jayme HASTINGS – Drunk Driving, Race Motor Vehicle

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Sunday, May 31, 2015 at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on general patrol observed two vehicles being operated aggressively northbound on Hwy. 6 & 10 in the Township of Chatsworth.

Both vehicles, a 2007 Mazda and a 2006 Ford pick-up truck, were stopped on Hwy. 6 & 10 south of Sunny Valley Road.

The driver of the Mazda, Daniel Robert WAUGH, 29, of Owen Sound, was charged with failing to surrender an insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The driver of the Ford pick-up truck was found to have been drinking alcohol. After failing a roadside breath test, he was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for further breath tests.

Jayme HASTINGS, 28, of Northern Bruce Peninsula, was charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood under the Criminal Code, fail to surrender insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
