(HALIBURTON, ON) -On Saturday August 24, 2013 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers from the Central Region S.A.V.E. Team were on patrol on Canning Lake in the Township of Minden Hills. Officers were conducting random checks of vessels being operated on the water. As a result of a vessel stop James RUTTIG, age 57 of Haliburton Ontario was arrested and charged with operating a vessel with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood and Impaired Operation of a Vessel. RUTTIG is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on October 2 2013.
The OPP is reminding the public that a criminal charge of Impaired Driving while operating a vessel (boat) will result in an automatic drivers licence suspension for a period of 90 days. OPP officers will be on increased patrols on Haliburton County waterways this coming holiday long weekend.
